RO Christmas Songs

Carol singing (known as 'Colindatul') is a very popular part of Christmas in Romania. On Christmas Eve, children go out carol singing from house to house performing to the adults in the houses. They normally dance as well. The children get sweets, fruit, traditional cakes called 'cozonaci' and sometimes money for singing well.
Christmas carols and the practice of caroling are Romanian Christmas traditions. Carolers traveling in groups carry noisemakers such as bells and whips to scare away evil spirits and dress up as shaggy beasts that represent bears or goats. Christmas carols have a religious theme, while others are Romanian folklore.
